Innovators rating 2015

Monday, 14 December 2015

The international consulting company The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has formed a rating of the 50 most innovative companies in the world. Most of them (29) are located in the United States, 11 in Europe, and 10 in Asia.

This BCG rating is from 2004. There have been some changes in the top five companies this year. The first and second places are retained by Apple and Google, respectively. Apple has been in the lead since 2005, and Google has been in second place since 2006. Tesla significantly improved its rating, moving from seventh place to third. Microsoft and Samsung are closing the top five.

BCG surveyed 1,500 top innovation managers in various countries and industries. Researchers evaluated the innovativeness of companies on four indicators:

  • ability to provide high-speed innovation implementation,
  • systematic study of corresponding areas,
  • the most efficient use of technical platforms,
  • improvement of resource-saving processes.

BCG researchers add that the speed of innovation has been one of the top priorities. The Zara brand is an example of rapid innovation. If a regular fashion retailer takes several months to develop, create and market new products, Zara takes two or four weeks.
