These ten films prove that PR is a dream profession for those who know very little about it. But the heroes of the movies have a rather complicated and sometimes even dramatic relationship with their careers.

The Joneses (2009)

An ironic American comedy-drama about the population of the American way of life. The Jones family moves to a wealthy suburb. The attention of new neighbors was immediately drawn to these four – the best clothes, the latest technology, new brands of cosmetics, and perfumes. No one guesses that Jonesy is a fake family, but an undercover salesman who came to advertise not just goods but also lifestyle. However, the secret sooner or later becomes apparent, especially if the Jones themselves are tired of their work. Starring David Duchovny, Demi Moore, Amber Heard, and others. In general, the film’s originality lies precisely in the characters’ inner experiences, who understand that their “life image” and relationships with other people are entirely false.

99 Francs (2007)

A screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Federico Begebeder, who at one time made the author one of the top writers not only in France but also in Europe. The main role in the film is played by Jean Dujardin, who is almost impossible to recognize in “The Artist” after the outrageous image in “Franks”. The 99 Francs also plays on the cynicism of the world of advertising and PR and the cynicism of the creators who work in it, their frustration with standard values ​​and stereotypes.

Thank You for Smoking (2006)

Screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by the famous writer Christopher Buckley. Starring Aaron Eckhart and Katie Holmes. The film itself is a story about death dealers, arms, alcohol, and smoking lobbyists. As the name suggests, the film will focus on smoking – the protagonist has to fight hard for the right of Americans to smoke, but like other PR people in dozens of other films – to be disappointed in their work.

 20 Cigarettes (2007)

Russian drama about the world of advertising and PR, starring the star of “Inadequate People” Ilya Lyubimov. According to its plot, the film remotely echoes the “99 francs”, telling about the serious problems in the life of the hero, which are catalyzed by his work in an advertising agency. He will have to make many difficult choices to realize what is most important to him in life.

Generation P (2011)

Film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Viktor Pelevin, which has already become a classic of modern Russian literature. Like the book, the film resembles the dream of a somewhat smoky creator, but at the same time in an exciting context, opens the world of advertising and PR. It is worth noting that the film was of interest not only to CIS viewers but was also purchased for rent in several other countries, including the United States and Canada (where “Generation” got limited rental).

Holy Man (1998)

One of the comedies was shot in the wake of Eddie Murphy’s acting success. Here we can see a famous comedian in the image of a preacher who promotes “Shop on the couch” with the help of black PR.

Wag the Dog (1997)

A film that attracts the attention of a true film lover at least as an actor – Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro played the main roles in it. “The tail wags a dog” is completely focused on the system of manipulation of citizens through the media and advertising. It would seem that such a picture deserves a remake – because today the methods and resources of advertising and PR have begun to move forward. By the way, the film proves that one of the best PR people are filmmakers.

Crazy People (1990)

A comedy-drama about what to do for advertisers who will one day be fed up with their profession. Well, or the profession will bring them “to the pen.” The protagonist managed to find his new vocation only after being admitted to a psychiatric clinic. It is hoped that not all members of this profession will have to look for themselves in this way.

The Ides of March (2011)

The film “March Go” is dedicated to political PR – from writing speeches for participants in the election race to covering up the awkward aspects of their biography. George Clooney directed the film and even received several Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his efforts. He also starred in the movie The Politician, where Ryan Gosling’s hero is trying to organize a political campaign on all counts.

The Campaign (2012)

A comedy that ridicules what the March Ides celebrate is still political PR. Such films should be devoted to an independent review, but in the context of advertising and PR, they fit perfectly. The “Campaign” has united Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis in an election race taking on incredible comic twists, as both politicians already have a sweet taste for power.
